The Power Paradox: Influencing in Complex World

The Power Paradox is simple; we gain the ability to influence others when we share (vs. take) power. Practicing the principle is not always easy, especially given the complex organizational structures we work within. Much distress at work is a result of personal agendas and misplaced hierarchical boundaries that trump inclusion and collaboration. At the same time, the basis of trust is the feeling that one is safe with the other undefined and of course, trust is required for engagement of any kind.

June’s program topic, “The Power Paradox,” will be led by Andrea Chilcote of Morningstar Ventures. Andrea is an executive coach, leadership development specialist and author. The core focus of her work is on the critical impact business relationships have on business success. Andrea has been a friend of ODN for many years, offering The Advanced Consulting Skills Course in the Omaha area.

In an interactive, engaging format, we’ll discuss:

The obstacles as well as essentials for effective influence in your role
Why power is paradoxical and how you can manage it for maximum engagement of clients and stakeholders
How to build genuine trust through alignment
