Assessing the Assessments

Dr. Janet Walker,

J. Walker and Associates

Data helps us make better decisions.  When we use assessments, it helps provide data to help us identify and close “gaps” in our organization or individual performance.  What gaps are you faced with?

During this interactive session, you will be able to ask questions of each other and learn from the experiences of others in the room.  We will specifically address:

  • “Why” are we gathering data (using assessments) in our organization efforts?
  • “How” do we do that?  What qualitative or quantitative methods are we using (and why?)
  • “What” – specifically, what instruments are people using and “what” are the pros and cons of those instruments?

By participating in this session you will feel less fearful of using assessments in your work, and empowered to pick an assessment to help your situation.  You will also know or understand the different types of assessments available to help understand organization and individual performance gaps, and cautions related to using assessments.

Dr. Janet Walker has always desired to help individuals gain more skills and use their talents.  She has learned over time that sometimes it’s the culture within which we work that often must be adjusted first before individuals’ talents can be realized.

In 2000, after nearly 20 years in healthcare, higher education and financial services, Dr. Walker decided it was time to fulfill a dream to start a consulting practice and help multiple companies achieve their goals.

Her unique blend of skills, abilities, knowledge, resources and partnerships, has afforded her the ability to help individuals and organizations maximize and align talents to achieve strategies and goals.

President and Founder, Dr. Janet Walker earned a Doctorate of Education from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and holds adjunct faculty positions.  In addition to her commitment to her clients, she is actively involved with the Omaha Organization Development Network and Omaha Chamber of Commerce.    Recently she was nominated and appointed as a Trusted Advisor to Vistage International, a private advisory board for business executives.

This program focuses our learning on the OD Data competencies of systems thinking, feedback, assessment, data gathering, business acumen, analysis and evaluation.
